Magnetic mount antennas are designed to use a ground plane. It is typcially provided by a vehicle, but how do you use the antenna away from your vehicle?
Here is a portable ground plane that is easy to build with a drill, pliers, and adjustable wrench. There is a significant difference in performance between using one or not. This one also breaks down so that it can be easily carried in an antenna bag or backpack.
There is going to be a hand to hand Self Defense workshop on Tuesday the 17th from 7pm - 9 pm. It is being taught by a martial arts school specialized in hand to hand defense.
