Gardening isn't as sexy as learning to use a ham radio, but it's an important step in self sufficiency. Here is a good introduction for how to plan a Square Foot Garden. This is a method that packs a lot of produce into a small foot print. Even a small garden is better than no garden.
There is going to be a hand to hand Self Defense workshop on Tuesday the 17th from 7pm - 9 pm. It is being taught by a martial arts school specialized in hand to hand defense.
